BMW used the theme of Joy for a recent marketing campaign and students were asked to take note of the campaign but move the concept forward. They were also asked to question and push the boundaries of what the BMW brand stands for.
The work that has been selected is conceptual and creative. BMW ownership is aspirational and the mood and quality of the images reflects this while appealing to a broad demographic.
“We approached the College earlier this year to see if their students would like to work on a brief. We wanted to break up the traditional clean and minimal space of the showroom with work that reflected the brand and appealed to our customers” said Michelle Walker, Customer Relationship Manager. “We are delighted with the photography produced by the students and the standard of work is exceptional. They have worked really hard and it’s very exciting to finally be able to see the photographs displayed in their full glory in our showroom.”
James Smith programme leader for the college added, “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to work on a live brief and produce a range of creative images for them. The students have been very enthusiastic about the project.”
The competition culminated yesterday evening (Thursday 3 June) with a private viewing where over 90 guests enjoyed drinks and canapés whilst enjoying the work exhibited. The Worshipful the Mayor of Blackpool, Councillor Don Clapham presented the three winning students with their prizes.
The winners were, Marianne McGurk (1st place), Eilert Storen (2nd place) and Graham Olley (3rd place).
